At Bright, we partner with organisations that need an extra boost of support to help drive meaningful changes in their communities. Our recent collaboration with JIVAM Foundation demonstrates how strategic fundraising support and donor readiness can help grassroots nonprofits build the foundations needed for long-term growth and impact.
JIVAM Foundation is a community-focused nonprofit based in Haryana, India, dedicated to empowering rural communities through education, scholarships, and foundational support initiatives. Through its work, the organisation helps create opportunities for underserved individuals and families, contributing to stronger and more resilient communities.
As JIVAM continued to expand its reach, it faced a common challenge experienced by many growing nonprofits: limited internal capacity to pursue funding opportunities in a structured and strategic way. While the organisation had a clear mission and strong community impact, fundraising efforts were often constrained by time, systems, and resources.
The organisation needed support to identify and assess funding opportunities, strengthen proposal development processes, and establish a clear pipeline for donor engagement. Without these systems in place, valuable opportunities could be overlooked, and staff capacity could be stretched across multiple competing priorities.
Over a five-month engagement, Bright worked closely with JIVAM Foundation through our Donor Readiness 101 service, helping the organisation become more competitive, better positioned, and donor-ready.
Our approach was collaborative and practical, focused on building both immediate fundraising opportunities and long-term fundraising capacity.
The engagement focused on three key priorities:
We conducted funding research to identify opportunities aligned with JIVAM's mission, programs, and growth ambitions. More than 30 funding opportunities were identified and vetted based on eligibility, strategic fit, competitiveness, financial gain and potential impact.
To strengthen internal fundraising processes, we developed a centralized proposal tracker and funding pipeline. This included consolidating historical proposal information into a single tracker, creating greater visibility over opportunities, deadlines, and decision-making processes.
Working alongside JIVAM's Executive Director, we developed two well-defined program concepts that could be adapted across multiple donor opportunities. Through bi-weekly catch-up sessions, we assessed opportunities, made go/no-go decisions, refined concepts, and developed competitive funding proposals tailored to donor requirements.
The engagement provided JIVAM Foundation with a stronger foundation for pursuing institutional funding and donor partnerships.
